Cracked Buttstock.

Had my Encore for over a year when the buttstock
cracked. Have heard that tightening the bolt to receiver
too tightly causes the buttstock to crack, but wasn't the
case here. Got a second opinion from a wood expert who
told me this piece of wood should never had been used
for a buttstock!

 Emailed Tim Pancurak explaining that since there was
only 2 weeks to first season muzzle loading season, I
REALLY needed to have the situation corrected FAST!!! He
sent back his standard reply to send them the stock, they
would check it out, and if need be send me back a new
one.  IF NEED BE???????????

 I called up Boyd's and they had me a beautiful laminated
stock three days later. Still have the original, but will send
it in, and IF they send me a new one, it will show up on
Ebay, unused.

I do not own an encore, but, I see a slight pattern here. I am wondering if they hold up to the magnum charges. Just my humble opinion, but,  most magnum guns are either a one piece stock or a plastic composite  stock.

:D I agree with that nice looking buck,and that kinda stout fella holdin his head up so he could say hi,,,It sounds to me like this is something that could be a problem with these rifles and these stout loads going thru em...I had the same problem brought to me a couple weeks back...stock cracked..could be the screww too tight,or a number of problem relating to the recoil...good luck fellas....king :shock:

Virgin Valley puts an aluminum pillar bedding device in all their Encore and Contender buttstocks.  I'm sure it's for good reason.
