Since no one else has spoke up yet, I'll share what little I know on the 2...I have 2 Handi 45-70s and a 45-120 BC that was a 45-70 before a rechamber. I use a small slip on Sims Limbsaver recoil pad on the BC for bench work, doesn't fit well, but it works, someone else cut the butt stock on the BC off and installed a recoil pad to replace the metal plate. If you want to further reduce recoil, you can put some lead in the bolt hole under the butt pad. Some pour lead in a copper water pipe and drop it in, others have filled the hole with lead shot. If you have a synthetic stocked 45-70, lead can also be placed in the stock since it's hollow. I don't have any like it, but I've read that some have a metal bar in them right from H&R, also.
On the CAS long range stuff, I'll leave that up to those that actually have done it, all I have on mine is the Williams FP sight which I haven't shot with yet. The little Williams WGRS ramp sight that came on mine in combination with the Lyman 17AUG front sight shot way too low with the rear sight maxed in elevation, had to install a lower front sight, was headed to the range today, but they had it closed for a Hunter ed class.....maybe tomorrow.
