Kiss CCW in Wisconsin goodbye
« on: March 13, 2005, 06:18:28 AM »
Not that it had a great chance in this people's republic, but the hotel shooting in Brookfield yesterday pretty much ended the possibility of CCW for a long time, maybe forever, IMHO.  The shooter used a handgun and the shooting was in the Milwaukee area where most of the political power is concentrated in the state.

No way legislators on the fence vote for it now.

Are you kidding?  This is a wonderful way to JUSTIFY concealed carry.  An armed citizen could easily have taken this psycho out, if CCW were legal.  Same as at Luby's in Texas, the subway in NYC, McDonald's in San Ysidro, the list is long and filled with victims who died needlessly.  CCW SAVES LIVES, PERIOD!  The Liberals keep bleating, "No guns!  Someone might get hurt!"  To which I respond, "Yes!  And decisively!  As long as the bad guys are the ones getting shot, what the problem?"

CCW & the anti-gun crowd.

Rule 1: The anti-gun crowd will seize upon any legitimate argument against CCW.

Rule 2: The anti-gun crowd will seize upon any legitimate argument for CCW, twist it around 180 degrees and apply rule 1.

Rule 3: In case of confusion about rule 1, see rule 2.

Unspellable,

SO WHAT!!!?? Is rule 4 Give up?

Rule 1. The anti's are always going to be anti's no matter what.

Rule 2. The idea that they need, or have any legitimate arguements is foolish because the will make up any arguement they can think of. Weather it's fact or fiction does not matter to them.

Rule 3. Never give up! Never give up! Never give up! Because if you do they win and IT'S YOUR FAULT!

"Legitimate arguments against CCW"?  Like what?  This is an opportunity for our side, but only if we seize it.  If we let the lefties continue to manipulate the media without our side being heard, they will win again.  If we grab the bull by the horns and ram it down the media's throat that CCW could have prevented or stopped this murderous lunatic, we win!

The research has been done, the studies are in, and the truth is right there......CCW Saves Lives.  Look at what Florida, Arizona, Texas, New Hampshire, Vermont and all the rest of the progressive states have done.  Their crime rates dropped, the people are safer and the cops are happy about it.  As long as you let the media demonize "The Gun", then anyone who wants or carries one will be demonized with it.  Turn the conversation to Criminal Behavior (with or without weapons), and punishing the violent offenders, and keep the debate on track.

This whole thing is about people and their behavior, not a three pound piece of steel.   Now go forth and preach it, brother!  LOUD!

One thing you have to remember is that the people here in Wisconsin are more likely than most Americans to trust in government for all manner of things including their own protection.  Compared to other regions of the country, there seems to be less emphasis on individuality here and more of a emphasis on common or public institutions.  It's a cultural thing.  We are like Germany, Sweden or Canada in this regard.

This manifests itself in enormous state and local governments, outragously high taxes, and the fact that Wisconsin is one of a small percentage of states that don't allow CCW in ANY form.

I agree we shouldn't give up, but someone from the south or mountain west USA would be shocked at how even freedom-minded conservative Wisconsinites are uncomfortable with the idea of CCW.  It's always been a huge uphill battle here.

Sounds like it's time for them to become enlightened.  Use the facts and figures available, and keep it logical.  What is better, a crime rate like D.C's, or a crime rate like Virginia's, 20 miles away.  Why is it so much better?  CCW and progressive gun laws.  Kennesaw, Georgia, another great example.  On the flip side, bring up Australia and England and what's happened since they disarmed their citizens.   Only prejudice will keep people from seeing the truth, because the data that proves our side is out there.   Maybe scheduling a debate would help!  But don't just sit there, DO SOMETHING PRO-ACTIVE.  It's your only hope for the next several years, maybe more.

3 rules

lighten up a bit guys!  My three rules are for understanding the basic tactics of the antigunners.  They don't say anything about what we should do about it.

As for the questions about rule number 1, you guys are not reading rule number 3.
