Just wanted to post a new topic here; but in all honesty, has anyone got any good fishing stories or interesting experiences they want to share?  Thanks

I posted a really long post earlier, but, for whatever reason, it didn't go through.

My father and I were fishing for yellowtail snapper in Key Largo using 14 to 17 pound mono line with small 1/8 oz yellow jigs with tiny hooks with cut bait no bigger than your thumbnail.

Now, Kingfish have very sharp teeth and can cut 50, 60, even 80 pound mono in a split second.  My dad was brining up his line and a fish got it and pulled line like crazy.  We all figured that it couldn't be a kingfish because it would have cut the line immediately.  Well, it turned out that it was a kingfish and the hook was on the side of his lip just barely hanging on!   It took my dad about 20 min. to bring up the 20 pound king, but he did it!

I've been fishing for 34 years and I have never seen that happen.  Even the captain of the boat said that he had never seen that happen either.  One in a billion I guess.

And BTW, that's a TRUE story!

hmmmm...was at the three monks we had several big poles out live bait trolling.when we had a strike on the 8/0..we could tell it was a shark by the jerkin of the tip.and a big one.we were not after shark, but thought we would bring it in for the heck of it.we played the shark for an hour i guess and finally was able to get it under the boat and what we thought was worn out.it was allmost straight down and lenny and i were reelin it up visibility in the water was 8 ft. i guess (you could see in to the water at least 8 ft down then the murky water clouded the visability)the transome was 12ft. we were on the port side of the transome looking down at the line coming up.this head half the size of the transome came out of the merk and as it did it opened it's mouth.and the huge leader coiled up to us hook and all..and the thing sank back out of sight as fast as it appered.shivers ran up me spine and lenny said shivers ran up his spine.offten wondered if that thing was toyin with us..it could have come in the boat and made hell..or just ran with the line till it snapped.
my huntin rifle is safe from confiscation only while my battle rifle protects it.

I can remember back in78,or 79 fishing for sharks off of Radio Island NC. we were rigged heavey and were using 12 to 15 inch blues for bait, about 3 am we had a toke and 4 of us fought this thing for about 3 hours and was getting it close to the dock! with a 20 ft steel leader the thing came in and stayed deep and drug the leader along the steel dock edge and after his breather, when he decided to go, he was GONE! we never did get to see what we had hooked!!!!!!!!!
