http://www.buffalobore.com/ammunition/default.htm#4570

Take a look at the top load in the chart of .45-70 loads.  The Handi rifle is listed in the "intended for".  430gr. at 1925fps!!!  Wow...hurts me just looking at it!

Thanks for taking the time and doing that list...  Some of those loads are frightening!

Wow, two or three boxes of that ammo and you've spent a reloading set-up.  Might as well invest in the loading gear up front and load your own.  Nothing magical about their loads.  They are easily duplicated.

When you can get you S.D. down to around 1fps. consistantly..like the Garrets loads usually are...then you really got some fine ammo...

You are correct about the prices and our ability to produce similar loads.  Now, hornady light mag loads in the 3006, they should be charging 100 dollars a box because they have the holy grail of loading there.

Not going to go to the expense of testing their SDs, but would have to see it myself or see it done by an independent shooter to accept that 1fps figure.  Not trying to be confrontational about it, just a natural born skeptic

BP loads usually give the best SDs your going to get in the 45-70 and with that you are usually looking at 3fps or higher.  My best SDs with BP have been around 6fps

Yeah, I'd sure like to get my hands on those formulas and components!
