I've used their .17 stuff in my Hummer and LOVE It.....kills them chucks dead and leaves a Lil' pink spot right between the eyes.....MTNMAN

you bet those Hornady 17s are good.they are the best shooting 17 ammo out there.

maybe they will have the 20ga SST slugs at some point but the 12ga slugs are a sure winner

The number look impressive. It will be interesting to hear some real world performance reports. The accuracy claim of 2" groups at 100 yards is no better than the 2 3/4" federal remiums I'v been using for the last few years. That is a slick looking add though.

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

i dont have a clue about the size of the bullet used.in the winchester partition 20ga slug they are using a 260gr bullets and they claim 1900fps.the bullets are  bigger in the 12ga.i ran onto these  Hornady slugs at their web site.i was looking for load data for their 180gr XTP bullets for my 357max.

Jeff,

Thanks for posting the pic, I had heard they were comming out this year, just hope they get the 20ga loads out this year too. I have shot my last three muzzleloader deer with the sst/shockwaves, none made it over 50 yards. I would imagine the 20ga will be the 250gr offering, the 12ga is probably a 300gr or bigger.

Boy oh Boy...just wait till the gun grabbers see's these...I knew it was only a matter of time till one of the companies started making them...now the anti's in power will  be able to say..." Look...now they are turning their shotguns into rifles"...just the "Ammunition"...they have been waiting for to add more restrictions in the shotgun hunting only states...and believe me...they will.....

im sure your right about that Mac.i also think many states will start limiting muzzleloaders too.there are some real hot numbers coming from muzz loaders now.i sure like to see the better slugs on the market but the question is,HOW LONG WILL WE BE ABLE TO USE THEM?

Jeff,

Can you post a link as to where you found these? Hornady doesn't even have them on their own site yet. Did you find them in an article somewhere or what?

Thanks guys!

I'm so embarrassed  , I had another link and thought it was their homepage. I went through the shotgun stuff on that link, only buckshot. I guess I didn't see the HOME link on the bottom of the index.

I'm sure it wont be the last time I    myself.

Here is my link, just so you don't think I am too crazy. I thought the .17HMR page was just an add on their homepage.

Buckslayer thats what I was thinking too.  Like I said on here before hunting with a slug gun is about getting up close and personal.  Heck I shoot the Remington Buck Hammers.  Its a big flat hunk of lead...But I know going out that I've got a 50 yrd gun so I only take a shot thats under that range.  But I also know that when I hit a deer with one of these its going down fast.  I think in the long run trying to get rifle performance out of a slug gun is going to get us into more trouble with the gun grabbers.

I shot my doe last year @ 208 yards with a Hornandy H2K out of my Marlin 512.  She dropped instantly.

According to those ballistics, it is a 250 grain bullet. That sounds a little light for a 12 ga sabot bullet. You would think they would use a 300-350gr bullet. Seems like the bullet would be a bit stubby, maybe thats why it only achieves 2" groups.
