Armscor makes their own brand name, plus Rock Island and Charles Daly as well. I have heard both good and bad about all three brand names, but usually the bad remarks are from people that never owned one personally, or are merely teling what they heard. Most will admit that the early models a few years ago had problems.
I had wanted a 1911 for years, but was never willing to spend the big bucks. Several months ago, I stopped in a new gun shop and a CD Empire Target caught my eye. It had all the bells and whistles plus a super looking pair of grips and was $400 NIB. The fit and finish looked very good. I did an internet search and read all the bad reviews, but decided to buy it anyway.
I had 2 FTF's in the first box of (store bought) ammo I fed thru her. I have been shooting a mixture of various commercial brands and a lot of home rolled ball loads since then. Other than the 2 malfunctions I mentioned, there has not been another burp in 1000 rounds.
The accuracy is far superior to my Dad's $1200 Colt. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Last week I saw an Armcor, and other than the roll stamp, it looked the same.
