"Who is paying to keep her life "sustained"? Medical insurance or is the husband footing the bill??"

My understanding is that there was a judgement and/or settlement against the hospital/doctor that were responsable for her being in this state. I don't recall how much it was but the money for her care is already available. There are some that believe that the money is the motivation for the husband wanting her to die. I don't know what his true motivations are.

Curious isn't it...
How many of the same folks that are eager to starve Terri and kill little boys and girls during their "birth" day (partial birth abortion)....are the same ones that would want to jail someone for starving a cat or dog to death or for breaking an eagle egg...
They would want one jailed for endangering a "snail darter"....

I know who my God is ...I wonder who theirs is..!

Let's look at it this way..

The subject is YOUR sister...she was found in a brain injured state.
She had broken ribs and bruises that suggest a beating..

Her husband, that is so devoted to have her unwritten "death request" carried out...has been shacked up for years with another woman...such devotion.

He, being sole charge, has not alowed any speech therapy, no radios or TV in the room...why?

With his new living arrangements, he has proven that he is not
"devoted unto death"......other than HERS, that is.

It's not "the money", since he just refused a cool million $$....offered if he would turn her care over to your parents...

Since there is REAL doubt that she was injured without help...and her husband has forbidden your sister any speech therapy...or any electronic media contact (radio & TV) that may help her regain some powers of speech....

Do you STILL want your sister starved to death ?

I'm curious as to the source of this information. Everything I've been able to find says that she suffered a heart attack from an electrolye imbalance brought on by an eating disorder. CPR usually causes bruising and broken ribs. If you have information that shows she was beaten I'd like to see it as it would shed a whole new light on the situation. I've always thought there was something off about her husband.

I did find that the husband received two judgements for malpractice against the Dr. that was treating her prior to the incident. One for $700,000 and another for $300,000.

The links above state that DCF investigated the situation before and found it to be without merit. They're just rehashing old issues because they've run out of arguements.

I posed this as Kevorkian was jailed for assisted suicide, which was deemed murder, but this case it seems as tho the husband is playing Kevorkian and getting away with it. Just not right that one can and one can't.

Thanks for the links. They are interesting but I don't see anything that proves foul play. People who've been through CPR and an extensive ICU stay can end up battered and bruised. If she had a brain injury from a beating it should have shown up on her CT scan (she should have had one). Bruising and bleeding on the brain would show up. Geez, a couple years ago I had surgery on one of my elbows. It was out patient surgery. Arrived 8am and home by 1:30pm. The next day I hurt everywhere and felt like someone had beat the hell out of me.

There were some things on the sites that bothered me. One was that she hasn't had any testing for years. I don't see how the judges and doctors can make judgements about her current condition based on years old tests.

Another is that there has no attempts at rehab. She hasn't even been given a chance.

Something that has been pointed out by the talking heads is that she doesn't have anyone to represent her. Her husband has been put in that role and I suspect his motives (not that he caused her brain damage).

It is also my feeling that since the husband seems to have moved on with his life and considering the way he has done it (not getting a divorce) he has given up any rights he may have had to make decisions for her. I suspect he want's to retain control of the money.

more than a dozen judges have heard this case. each time they found no conflict of interest exists. i tend to believe that with that many judges in agreement there is no giant conspiracy going on.

Well it looks like everybody won, The lawyers get more work, her parents continue to see her, the politicians look like they have values, the President looks like he cares, the husband gets a new twist for the TV movie that must surely follow, and the federal government gains more power. Looking foward to the Supremes view of all this, should be interesting to see how the consevatives on the bench handle it. You got to love it when everybody wins.

I'd like to preface this by saying that I think most media polls are inaccurate at best, but this jumped out at me from a Reuters article.

"But a new ABC News poll on Monday showed Americans strongly disapproved of the intervention by Congress and two thirds believed lawmakers were using her case for political gain. Seventy percent called it inappropriate."

Those folks seem to froth at the mouth when the possibility of her living is even mentioned..

Liberal logic...execute the helpless but pitch a fit when a mass murderer is likely to be executed...

If she is in the condition that her husband claims, he should give in for the sake of the parents. If she is that brain damage it will not matter to her.

I have shied away from this subject for several days now and the longer it goes on the more confused I get. Terri is able to breath on her own and the heart is beating on it's own. Don't sound like dead to me. No, I wouldn't want to live in a vegetative state but without an advance directive written on a piece of paper and signed by the person in front of witnesses no one has the right to say if she lives or dies except the Creator himself. It would be so simple in my opinion for a judge to draw up some papers releasing her husband from any more responsibility and giving full responsibility to her mother and father, problem over. It is barbaric enough to let this woman die but to let her starve to death over a period of 2 weeks is uncalled for, hell, even someone on death row condemned to die is put to death in a matter of minutes rather than left to suffer for 2 or 3 weeks. MY GOD WHAT HAVE WE BECOME! :shock: :x

The thing is, if she is as brain damaged as is reported, she has no self-awareness and feels no pain. She will not suffer. That said, I still think it's barbaric. If they're going to do it, they should take a lesson from Kevorkian and make it qiuck and simple.

If it was against the law for Kevorkian to do what he did , and he is sitting in prison today, how can it be legal for Terry Schiavos "husband " to pull her feeding tube, let her die slowly, and call it legal, ecspially without a living will? Even though if there were a living will, to me there still would be some apprehension to allow someone to die like that. And also there is another good article over on WorldNetDaily.com, showing the daception of ABC news and their "poll".

Figured Jeb Bush would have done something to save this girl, he kinda indicaited he would. I would think Congress could do something as well, they have the authority to my understanding. Guess one persons life aint worth creating a politcal firestorm? Shame.
