How do you setup your bait site?
« on: March 21, 2005, 06:04:10 PM »
I was wondering about a good way to setup a bait site. We have been told that it will be the best close to a river or creek. For bait we will most likely use: meat and fat scraps, fish innards, molasses and possibly honey. If I can get a hold of some doghnuts or bread or anything like that it too will be added. Also how many sites should we set up. Our group could be as large as 6 or 7 but 3 for sure. Too many people with prior commitments.

Thanks for all the help

is it legal to use meat products in your area?

in my area its not.  i use mixes of verals (sugary) apple pie filling, fryer grease, lots of chocolate, and whatever else i can get in bulk.  i wont spend over a dime a pound.  i purchase by the 50 galon barrel.

i also top with a good spraying of liquid smoke and anise oils around the bait site.

location?....the darker the timber the better.  my best one is in dark mature white pine bordering a swamp.

heres some pictures of one night's activities.
