A handi for under a hundred.........
« on: March 22, 2005, 06:09:00 AM »
I came across a Handi in the gun store I work in part time. The store offered the guy $80 bucks for it. A 22-250 with a 3x9 on it. My price $88

It never made it to the used rack, but after closer inspection a bit of play was noticed in the action. Sent it back to NEF ....=... New Barrel

Anyone have luck with a certain load for this caliber?, I started with IMR 4064. Cold and windy range day led to not real impressive groups.

Did the O-Ring trick and ready to head to the range again.

I don't know which bullet you are using. However as reported by Fred M, Use the slower powders in the Handi. This will hold down the pressure and give good velocity. You will find that as a rule the Handi rifles will shoot best with lighter bullets for caliber and loads below the Max. I would look at H414 or IMR 4350. Maybe RE 15 at the fastest.. I just put one on layaway yesterday. H380 is a very good powder for the 22-250 as well.
shot placement is everything.
