Gunsmiths that will work on 760's
« on: March 22, 2005, 10:58:13 AM »
I'm going to post this here and the gunsmith forum.  Does anyone know of a gunsmith that will rechamber or rebarrel a Remington 760 pump action rifle that is located here in Oregon or Southwest Washington.  The several that I have called, do not want to touch it.  I would prefer to have a gunsmith that I can actually go and see, in person, instead of shipping it off somewhere and dealing with them over the phone.  I guess I'm a "look you in the eye" type of guy.  I know I can't be the only guy here in the pacific northwest that like's these rifles.  Anyway, any and all help will be appreciated. If you haven't had any success yet, call Wild West Guns in Anchorage, Alaska.  They're the only authorized Remington service center in Alaska, and they are certainly one of the top gunsmithing operations in the United States.  They will do it for you, they quoted me at least $800 for rechambering an '06 7600 for 35 Whelen, said it's NOT a simple rechambering.  Obviously, you don't know me from Adam, but you'll just have to take my word for it:  these guys can do the job and are second to none.  Period.  Do your biz by phone and you won't be disappointed.
