Ka6otm, do a quick price comparison between our suppliers, for what I shoot (my loads) either of your suppliers would cost me $12-15 more per thousand and that's just powder, primer and wad.

ButlerFord45,

You're absolutely right about the pricing.  I buy all my reloading components locally....except for things that are hard/impossible to find locally.

That's when I buy from the places I mentioned.  But the things that are hard/impossible to find I only need small amounts of, like wads for my turkey loads.  One bag constitutes a lifetime supply, so I don't mind the pricing.

Let's not forget one of our sponsers...

I purchase a lot of my components locally also, but Natchez Shooter's Supply and MidSouth get almost all of my reloading business.

Best regards!

M-man,

Hulls are best obtained at the empty shell barrel/dumpster at a local club after a trap shoot. I used to collect AA's and some Gun Clubs but don't have room to store them now so I gave that up and concentrate on looking for STS and 20 gauge hulls. Only cost is my time and a spot o' gas to get down to the club where I spend time anyway.

Hulls are a bit more challenging but Midwestern Supply (in good old Wis"tax"sin also mail orders and has a decent selection/good prices though I ain't sure how much shipping is. Sportsman's Warehouse here locally has about the best selection of hulls though might be worth checking if they mail order.

I agree we should buy locally-but most of the shops around my neck of the woods are not stocking reloading supplies cause of the HAZ MAT FEE"S!!! Powder is non-existant , primers nope !!

We order our reloading supplies when our gun club submiits their clays order.  Our supplier trucks it all down to the club in an 18 wheeler, and shipping is covered by the club's clays order.  We get our powder, shot, wads, and primers with no additional shipping and no HazMat fee.

i prefer going to sportsmans warehouse if you have one locally, they have everything i have ever needed shotshell wise on hand, and some of that was even hard to find stuff.  if online i either use gamaliel or however it is spelled or midway.

If you belong to a Trap or Skeet Range, you may be able to piggy back an order for reloading suppiies when the club gets their clay birds delivered.   I belong to a Trap Range in New Jersey that gets birds delivered twice a year from a supplier in Pennsylvania.   They have pretty good prices to begin with, but they give us special prices when they are delivering birds, and don't charge shipping or tax.   I usually buy everything I think I will need until their next delivery.

Also, a lot of vendors show up to the bigger State Trap and Skeet shoots,  They usually have very competitive prices.  Even if your not a competitor, its worth checking out the vendors if there is a big shoot fairly close to you.
