i got a remington 1100 3inch chamber. I got a hasting barrel with/ compensator. i tried allot of different slugs can not get any kind of group, I also have one for my 870 26 inch heavy barrel , with 1 1/2 groups a 100 yards. can anyone tell if its the compensator or something .i should look for.

I have a 26inch Hastings barrel (with the compensator) on my 870 12ga and could only get it to group heavier sabots well. I ended up going with Lightfield Hybrid Expanders (1.25 oz) and can get 1 to 1.5 inch groups at 50 yards. The Winchester BRI sabots also shot well out of it. Could not get any of the HOT (Partitions, Platinum Tips, H2K's, etc..) sabots to group worth a darn. I think it has something to do with the twist rate not being high enough to stabilize the lighter sabots at the higher velocities, just a guess though....

i have the exact same problem with my win 1300 rifled deer gun but i like the gun alot other then the fact that it wont shoot lighter faster ammo it likes win bri's and rem copper solids so far. all 1oz slugs at around 1300-1400fps have shot well

My 1100 Hasting barrel seems to like the Federal BRI-type slug, but the barrel is not the CSD version. I'm getting around 3" groups at 100 yards, but normally limit my hunting shots in the fields to half that. Let me know if you want to part with your barrel. I'd work with it some to see if I could get it to shoot.
