Any blue threadlocker will work, Permatex also makes some, just look in the adhesives section of your local hardware, variety or automotive store.  Finger nail polish will work, also.....just choose a color that looks good on your Handi!!!

There's not a big different in the price between the Eraticator and Sport Dot....$20! $10 difference on the Tactical..... And Jon has free shipping, to boot!!!

Clear nailpolish is fine, blue loctite can be found at just about any auto parts store. Don't use red loctite!! (It's to permanant). If you can find some or order some the correct loctite to use for the size threaded bolts we are using on guns and sights is the purple loctite but it's difficult to locate unless you special order it. For me clear nail polish works OK.  Some day I WILL get some purple loctite!!!....<><....

I've only read about the purple loctite, have never seen it at any automotive store or otherwise.....it's got to be pretty elusive stuff! It may be available in hobby stores though, that's a place I don't frequent since there are none in town, anymore! There's one in Portland, but it's not near anyplace I go, so it's off my list.....unless I need something really bad.... But....I'd drive quite a ways for a Handi or a Sportster.....and have, come to think of it!!! :)

Well other than the Loc-tite is there anything else i need to do to get the H&R to work properly? Is a o-ring really needed to improve accuracy or is it just a tightness indicator? Somehow i think my rings and scope are fine don't see how Leupold Riflman rings and a Nikon Prostaff scope could be rendered inoperable by a .308

The purple loctite is made specifically for small diameter threaded bolts and fasteners as are used on sights and scopes which you want to hold tight without loosening but you want to be able to remove at a later time.
Many here use the blue which is made to be used on larger automotive style bolts like 1/4", 3/8", and  1/2" which you want to hold tight and not vibrate loose but you do want to be able to possibly remove at some time in the future.
The blue is used because it is more readily available and it works (but so does clear nail polish which is MUCH cheaper) but it is not the proper strength.
If you can get any of the three options that you want (nail polish, blue, or purple), I would suggest purple loctite or clear nail polish....<><.... :money:

  Sorry. Your right, my bad,..I meant  8.5
But that sounds like a good scope quick.
I wish I could see one in person before shelling out $200 for one.

well my father works for SEARS and he carries Loctite regularly but he's thinking he most likely has the red kind. So Purple is ideal but blue works just harder to remove perhaps because it's strength is meant for harder workAKA larger bolts

well once i get this done i'll shoot it again but first i need ammo. Do H&R/NEFs like heavier or lighter bullets. My choices are SP PMP ammo in 150,158, and 180gr for .308 Winchester.

It will free float the barrel as much as possible eliminating pressure on the barrel from the forend and provide less interference with barrel harmonics. It works on some, others it doesn't, if you're looking to improve accuracy, it's cheap to try it, the "O" rings cost about 30ยข.

All NEF and H&R rifles. Dunno about Rossi, they're another make from Brazil, although they look like a budget clone of the NEF/H&R rifles, lots of similarities in their design.

Well i went shooting again and i think its finally staying put. No more wide flyers. Most bullets stayed together, once after running brush and bore snake a round would go right usually then come back. But 100yrds sucked compared to last time when it did shift. I was using American Eagle 150gr BT FMJ ammo this time so maybe that did something about the larger groups. I may be getting an o-ring tomarrow so i'll do that then too. 20rounds total.

ps the 100yrd group just won't do for one objective of mine. showin' up my uncle and father at 100+ shootin in my father's father's home in SD which overlooks a creek with anywhere from 75-200 and beyond yards of shooting. Im talking setting up soup cans and drilling them out there.

I put an O-ring on but the forend seems to move some and it's getting close to the barrel.

If it fits the barrel stud, the stud may be off center too, that's just one of the issues we'd like cured that are mentioned in the Handi improvement thread. If it shoots good, don't fix it.

nah i don't think it is. I put the forend on and it's off-center at the joint. When i try to put it on straight the forend moves to allow the stud to go in. hmmm right that last explanatory sentence may not click in da mind sometimes.
