Handgun Eye Relief Question?
« on: March 24, 2005, 05:15:09 PM »
I, like most, have limited means.  I have a new T/C G2 w/ 223 Rem barrel that I bought with a Nikon Monarch 2X scope.  Wrong, TOO under powdered!  I have had the Burris 4-12 recommended to me, all say is a GREAT scope.  My question is that I had a variable on my stolen Single Six.  The thing was that the relief shrunk (decreased) so much as the power increased it was difficult to shoot at different setting.  I would think that the Burris relief change would be more pronounced being higher powered than mine.  Is that statement correct?

What about the line of Burris scopes advertised as without relief changes, how are they?
Thanks and Gig''em

I have never tried a burris 4x12 , my 10x burris is short on eye releif but my 3x9 T/C is  ok along with the 3X t/C , 4X weaver , 5X burris , 7X burris,2x6 bushnell and 4x simmons but the simmons is a bit darker than the rest.

Handgun Eye Relief Question?

all burris ler scopes reduce in eye relief as you turn up the power, as far as i know. i just adjust my shooting positions for that and find it to be no problem.
the 3x12 burris IS a great scope. got 6 of em and love em  i highly recommend it, but i can understand being short on funds as i am at most times myself. :(  it is worth $300 if ya got the funds. 8)

as a cheaper option the Bushnell trophy model 2x6 ler scope is an excellent scope in my opinion. it has a longer, more constant eye relief. actually too long for my preference after shooting the burris scopes. BUT it's eye relief can be shortened a lil bit by adjusting the eye piece(unscrewing) in the rear of the scope. not bad for about $150. 8)

For long and constant eye relief through all the power settings get ahold of one of the now discontinued Bausch & Lomb Elite 3000 2x6's or the scope that replaced it, the Bushnell Elite 3200 2x6.

Between my Contender & Encore barrels plus XP-100's I've got fourteen of the B&L Elite 3000's currently mounted and a couple more new ones ratholed.
