About 6 months ago, a customer brought me a rifle that he wanted the scope taken off of. He said he had taken it to another 'smith but he couldn't get the split ring screws loose even with penetrant and heat. The only option was to drill the screws and ruin the rings. As this was a completely hand built custom rifle, my customer didn't want to do that.I aggreed to give it a try. I put a screwdriver to it and the ring screws backed right out! I asked the customer when the other 'smith tried to get the scope off and he said "Oh, about 10 years ago". So, don't sweat it, just put some penetrating oil on the choke ,put the shotgun in the closet for about 10 years and the choke should come right out. Or if you are the impatient type, take it to a 'smith.
