« on: March 25, 2005, 11:55:40 AM »
Well My brand new Vaquero needs work :( .
The cylinder was not cut correct, they chamfered the face of the throats, very sloppy work, also the back of the Cylinder is very rough :x .
Will be sending it to Ruger along with a letter from my Smith explaining the problem and asking for them to install a new Cylinder.
How is their service and what kinda time frame
am I looking at getting this thing back.

Ruger Factory Service Question

Thier service is top notch.   The wait depends on a few things.  Fist of which is how mny others are ahead of you.   A number of the first of these new vaqueros and FT's were recalled for a probelm with a retaining pin.  If there's many of them ahead of yours, you could wait.  While you could call every day checking, that won't get it done any sooner.  Give e'm time and let it get done right.

Ruger Factory Service Question

Since you asked, my experience with Ruger service was BAD.  Seven weeks and two follow up phone calls to get my 22/45 repaired.  They offered me a ball cap and patch for the slow service.     My response was, forget it!  The gun was repaired, but I swore I would never buy another Ruger.  But, that's just me.  Good luck.

Ruger Factory Service Question

For me Ruger customer service is outstanding!  I had a bent front sight on my Bisley .44 (long story).  They repaired it, and reblued the entire gun.  Free of charge! It came back in a reasonable time too.  I sent it via a FFL dealer so I didn't have to deal with all the new shipping hassles.  Oh, they sent it back postage paid too.  Hope this helps.
