375 JDJ Data Question

The last time I checked, JD Jones site didn't list loading data for the 375 JDJ. Does he publish his data in an accessible place or do you have to call him and put in a request?

JD is a little "sticky" about his load data, but if you have one of his barrels or rechambers and  call or email him, he will send you the load sheets for any of his wildcats that you have.   I currently have 3 of his JDJ's (257, 309, 375), and he mailed me all three back when I got the barrels from a 3rd party.   Just be sure in the call/email that you state you have barrels either made or rechambered by him and he will get the sheets right out to you.   HTH

He charges a dollar per cartridge, plus a little for shipping too.  I have ordered a couple from him in the last couple of weeks.  I have to admit that I am a little mad about this.  I am trying to decide which one of his cartridges to get and he is making me pay to decide.  I sent him an e-mail posing the question and I got a one line answer that he would use nothing smaller then the .338 #2.

Guess you have to make money...

He's recommending no rechambers less than the 338 caliber?  Hard to believe.  What was your question exactly? :eek:

Hodgdon reloading book has reloading data for the 375 JDJ.  The one thing that I never see is what the CUP pressures are for JDJ's cartridges. :blaster:

Biathlonman, I know where you are coming from. But look where MR. Jones is coming from. he is a business man and is trying to make a living.

 One may not think a few sheets of paper would hurt a company, but when you look at all the cost involved in running a company like his you will see how much each copy really cost him (paper, ink electricity for the copper, someone to run them off, the envelope the someone's time to stuff and mail it as so on) and the profits on this type of business is not that big so if 500 people a month would asked for free copies of all his chambering he would go out of business or have to raise prices up higher.

If you want some more information on his chambering I have a book called handguns 95
it has a chapter on JD Jones and his chambering. If you want it we can work something out.

Very politely said.  I also went through E-Mailing J.D....to try to get a recomendation on a re-chamber.  After about 4 times and getting 3 word sentences in return and not dealing with my question, I sent an E-Mail asking whoever was responding..."if they didnt know the answers to my question, please refer me to someone else at SSK who would help me.  What I got back was nothing less than a RUDE THREAT from JD personally.  I will never deal with him again if my life depended on it.  I went round and round with Graybeard about this because of some names that I called JD on this forum, and I wont repeat it.  But..the moral of the story....there are people that respect us enough to be civil and polite when we contact them for products.  If booze or drugs or senility are effecting someone to the point that they can not be anything but rude to customers....well maybe a Nursing Home is in order.  Sorry for being so 'honest', but I am 'hardly ' the only person that feels this way about the .......person.

I had SSK rechamber my 35rem to 358JDJ.  Love it. When ever I have e-mailed SSK JD has always e-maile me back next buisness day.  Lone Hunter

I don't want to get in a fight about this, But I have a jdj barrel and it was best service I had. I have sent numerous emails to ssk every time Mr. Jones answered them personally. I have to agree with the shorts answers a few times i would just get "no" as a response others he took the time to explain  things. please remember when you are communicating with a company that YOU are not the only person that is asking questions and some times he may have 100 emails to respond to if he took the time to give a full and complete answer to everyone he would get nothing done

I am by no means saying anything bad about SSK or J.D. Jones.  Last person I spoke to on the ophone there was very cheerful and very nice, I like that.  

I sent him an e-mail asking him about building a light weight Contender carbine/rifle.  I asked what cartridge he would suggest out of his JDJ line.  He simply responed nothing smaller then .338 jdj#2.  No explanation, no reasoning.  Probably how I would respond also if I were trying to run a business like his...

Personally I have shot a couple SSK Barrels, and have a SSK rechamber sitting here ready to shoot right now. Yes the man's bed side manner (so to speak) leaves something to be desired at times. I fully agree he could respond with more complete answers to questions, but everytime I have phoned and talked to JD personally he has indeed answered my questions, even when I didn't like the answers. The man does indeed have his own opinions, but then he has been there done that as well. Whether or not I like or even agree with JD and his thoughts is a personal thing, but SSK does indeed put out a good product.

The two SSK Barrels I have had were both 14" .250 Savage Barrels (one was SSK Krome and the other Stainless-Steel). Both were great shooters, and I really couldn't fault anything with either of them. Unfortunately I do not currently own either of these two barrels.

However I do currently have a T/C Super 14 that was rechambered from a .30 Herrett to .30-30 Ackley Improved. About all I have done so far with this barrel is fireform a few rounds of brass, and am awaiting the arrival of my Redding .30-30 Ackley Improved Dies so I can get to loading for this barrel. In the shooting I have done with this barrel so far I can not find anything to fault with it.

Hopefully this has come across like I intended it. I am not defending nor condeming the man, just trying to state what my experiences have been in an honest manner.

You can E-Mail J.D for data on any of his cartridges.  He will send the data in the mail.  The first time it took about a week.  The second time I asked for some, I forgot all about it, and got the info elsewhere.  It finally came from JD about 3 months later.  I do agree.  He makes a great product.
