Has any had any experience with the H & A underhammer pistols?

I had one I shot targets with for about 4 years. After working on a load for a month using differnet size .36 roundballs and patches I got a load that I could compete with shooting at 25 & 50 yards. I can't remember the charges but the .36 I have now shoots 15 grns of 3F with .350 ball and does well. The H A underhammer was a little front heavy due tot he grip being right on the back but it was okay for shooting targets if you practiced. It would shoot in the black at 25 yds all day. They are fun but I wanted something that I could get better groups with at 50 and had an adjustable trigger and sights. Good luck.

I love them for general shooting. I have to agree with Hawkeye about comp shooting but I don't do much anyway. I was talking to the fellow at Blue Grouse last week and he gave me the best Idea I've heard for a long time. I'm going to build one and machine a copy of an Encore grip stem insead of the bolt that comes on them. That way I can use Encore grips and stocks on it.

Thanks for the info, Hawkeye and peter nap. This will just be a fun toy for my 15 year old and me to shoot at the farm. Sounds like it will do everything we want to do. We shoot a lot of centerfire pistol and would like to try a muzzleloader.
