8 3/8" Smiths O-Wow
« on: March 26, 2005, 11:11:24 AM »
Just walked into my local gunshop this morning. What did they have in the case?? Smith 629 8 3/8 in box unfired. Smith 57 8 3/8 Nickel in box unfired. Smith 29 8 3/8 Nickel in box unfired. Belonged to a collector they said. It is all I can do to keep from going back and buying all three!!!! Aughhhhh...

What are you waiting for? Eight and threeeights isn't my idea of a perfect barrel length but I make an exception now and again.

Be Safe,
Scott

The 8 3/8 is what I am looking for. It will be my new deer gun for next year.  How much were they asking?  I would have picked that gun up on the spot given it's good condition!

That 8 3/8's must be catching on at S&W. My 500 barrel is 8 3/8" long. Sounds like a good hunting lenght. :D

Sadly the 8 3/8 barrels are pretty much a thing of the past at S&W. Only offered in the 500 & 629 classic.
I have also thought it was an excellent hunting length.
I know I'll never give up either of my 686's in 8 3/8.

Yup, Jerry, go back & buy all 3!
