I was just wondering if anybody has tried Paco's hollowpoint/accurizer tool for 22rimfire.Does it live up to it's claims, game taken with it, etc.

It is explosive on small game.  I haven't tried it on varmints, but I bet it would be awesome.  It is pretty simple to use and once you get the feel of it, there is a variety of different shapes you can make with the same tool.  You can do it just lightly and make ammo that performs better than the CCI Velocitor...or you can use it to 'clean-up' Velocitors or other high-priced ammo.  If you look at those spendy bullets under a magnifier, you will see a lot of blemishes and deformity.  Just a little tap with Paco's tool will straighten them out.  You can also make a full wad-cutter hollow-point from el-cheapo ammo, but in most firearms these will not cycle semi-auto because of the sharp edge of the bullet.  I have used them on Stingers and they are probably the most explosive I have seen, they will shred a pop can full of water, literally rip it into peices.  I have used it on 22 Mag..although it is not realy made for 22 Mag, and could be a little dangerous..but it is pretty incredible what a 22 Mag will do with a 'Nasty-Nose'.

I forgot to mention....the tool has two ends.  One end is 223, and the other 224????  This gives you the option of 'slugging' the diameter of the bullet up a little larger so that it will grip the rifling better for your particular firearm.  Since it is not 'turned' for to do any of the shaping..any plating or copper-wash on the bullets remains completely intact.

They have a few options.  I haven't used the baby scorpion, although I have all three tools. I just use the rod that makes the dish-nose, and the one that makes the hollowpoints.  I have been having some varmint problems at my chicken coop, so Maybe I will get to do some more testing.

I am interested in the tool as well.......But, from what I can see, you put the tool over the bullet and hit it with a hammer.......Now (the dumb part) what prevents the bullet from going off? It seems like the primer is on the table......

Note a dumb question to me Jim... :?  I've seen the devices to manipulate muzzleloader bullets...but it would seem a vice or clamp would be a better option to swedge the bullet in lieu of "hitting it with a hammer".  I've never seen one of these things.  Hate to get handed one of the....."Here's Your Sign".   :)

Well guys?

I have the tuner kit with all three rods. Works great. I found that if I size them with the .224 my 1885 shoots better. That in itself is worth the investment to me.

I used a similar tool called a Hanned tool. It did give me the best accuracy I've gotten from target ammo. Today Eley's top of the line Tenex match ammo has a flattened nose. As for game taking ability, it was a gimmick that didn't work nearly as well as commercial hollow points. I don't really see the point of making ones own hollow points when there is cheap excellent ammo like Winchester Power Points and CCI Mini Mags.

I played with the Hanned tool for a while and quit using it after I realized it was a waste of time.
