Back from the Brooks Range early.  Total whiteout conditions on the Koyakok, ice road to Bettles closed due to drifting snow.  Snow drifting onto the Dalton highway all the way down to the White Mountains.  Had to wait for Semi's going north to bust thru snow drifts, then I would have to drive their ruts to get thru hoping another semi was not following the trail breaker.  More later after I get some rest.  Rog

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

For anyone that hasn't seen a good whiteout, when I lived up there going to the outhouse could be an experience. Durning the winter I tied a rope to the cabin and the other end to the outhouse. Didn't use it a whole lot but now and again. It was about 60' from the cabin to the out house. You don't spend a lot of time in the out house durning the winter up there.
