Hmmm I wonder if it would fit on the max.  Since you have a max have you ever tried it?  I would really like to replace my front sight with a firesight and add my One Ragged Hole sights.
I must be crazy.

My max barrel is smaller than the ~.815" 45-70 barrel, so the .815 shotgun shorty wouldn't fit well, but the standard shorty ramp probably would work, then you would need to change the mount hole to 6x48 unless yours is already that size. My max barrel has the smaller 4x40 or somesuch hole as does my other 45-70 barrel. The screw that comes with the sight is 6x48. I tried mounting the sight on the other barrel using the 4x40 screw but it didn't work well, wouldn't want to trust it.

Thanks for the help quick.  Just to clarify a few things I am assuming that the 9/32" is the height of yours?  Also if I read right one of your 45-70 barrels had a 4x40 screwhole while one had a 6x48 screw hole?  And lastly how on gods green earth do you figure out what the screw hole size is?

Like I said thanks again for the help.

I know the 6x48 size because that's the size that Williams says comes with the sight, I'm just guessing on the smaller hole size. I'm not really the pioneer here, I just improved on Junior Doughty's system.

And I'm not even sure I have the right sight height combination, since Junior shoots black powder, my loads are considerably hotter than his and he appears to have his sight near the bottom of the ramp, so his sight combination might not be right for hotter smokeless loads, and I haven't shot mine yet to know for sure.

Hey Quick,  will the mannlicher work on a 357?  Hey, it could happen.  Maybe I will get lucky and there will be one left.  That would be sweet.  A 357 mannlicher with an english butt stock.  Wha-da-ya think?

I don't know what the OD of the 357 is I just got mine back but williams makes a 20ga shorty ramp that is 0.690 OD in 1/8, 3/16, 9/32, 3/8 hights.
I'll try to check mine this weekend I would like a fire sight for it too. New ones have williams sights on them so hopefully screws will be the same. Also got a Manlicher forearm when I got my barrel
That's my boy, GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
