looking at a Springfield...

there GI milspec 1911 to be exact. i was originally going to to go with a Norinco because of there price, but the GI isn't priced too ba considering the exchange rate and dealer markup. i want a 1911 that looks like it was issued to the army, not a fancied up race gun. even the standard model Kimbers and the other SA 1911's don't do anything for me in the looks department. i'm also swinging towards SA after shooting my friends XD-40 for an afternoon.  looks hidous but it is a sweet gun. so here's my options....

Springfield Armoury Milspec GI 1911A1 $675 Cdn.

or

Norinco 1911A1  $325 Cdn.

i'll probably go with the SA. Norinco quality has improved greatly, but the SA is probably more accurate out of the box and a bit more reliable.

after adding up the mods i would have done to the norinco, like a Colt barrel and have the trigger worked on, new grips etc.. it's actually cheaper to buy the SA and leave it stock. so i guess that what i'll do

Aren't the Milspec and the GI two different models?
The grips showing on the top pic are for the GI and it sells for a few
bucks over 400.00.  It is supposed to duplicate the WWII model.
The Milspec is higher but not exactly GI specs.
I have a Milspec in 38 Super and love it.  Three other SA and no
complaint on any of them.  You can't go wrong on a S'field.

Yep, the Springer will accept tons of orginal and aftermarket parts. Having handled and shot both the Springer and the Norinco, I'll have to go on record as favoring the Norinco over the Springer for $100 less.
