Anybody use Weaver fixed powers on their handi's?  I am considering a new 4x on my 357.  I have an old steel 4x that contributed to the venison in the freezer but have not used a newer model.  How do they rate compared to the competition?

I have newer Weaver scopes that are variable low power V-3's and had a V10 that I would compare equal in clarity to my Leupold VariX III low power variables. I like the Weaver Classic scope line, and think they are a great value in todays optics market. The ones that I have all appear to be made by LOW (light optical works) in Japan. I highly recommend Weavers..............Chainsaw

Good scopes for the money...but just a tad short on eye relief for my taste...but on a 357 it should be just about right... :D

I just put an old weaver V4.5 on my new 45/70 handi rifle its 33 years old and i sent it to weaver in el paso a few years ago they cleaned it changed all the o rings and resealed it. Clarity is about the same  as my  Leupolds The charge was $50-60 . I am a big fan of Leupold but last november i bought a scope that is much clearer then all my leupolds Its a zeiss conquest 3x9 40mm. I have no problem using cheaper priced scopes as i have  3 cabelas pine ridge scopes that i have never had any problems with and i just love the Bushnell trophy scopes

Thanks for the input guys.  I may go ahead and get a Weaver, I have a tough time bucking up for a Leupold.  Looking through my Bushnell Trophy and a VX1 I had a hard time telling any difference.  I definitely would not pay what Leupold wants for price/quality difference.

I have had nothing but good luck with old weavers.  Right now I have a K6 on my handi heavy 223, K4 on my Ruger 30-06, and a really old G6 on my old Marlin 39.  I swear, I'd rather buy an old used Weaver for $75 or less than pay 3 to 4x that for a new anything.  You can't beat a pawn shop/gun show Weaver.
