Information about M1 Garand
« on: April 02, 2005, 12:12:34 PM »
Can anyone tell me where I can get more information about this M1 Garand:  There are no marking on the receiver behind the rear site.  On the right side of the receiver is the following.

M1    03xxx
M1 Rifle cal. 30-06
Made in the USA by C.A.I., St. Albans, Vt.

I have found out this is the Century Arms Inc.  An importer.  I have markings on other parts by suspect these are parts put together to make a firearm?

its a parts gun of questionable quality. actually the reciever is of questionable quality, the rest of the parts should be decent.

The receiver has been known--as  well as the bolt to explode on the Century ones.

bolts are USGI, and are no more prone to exploding than the ones in a cmp garand. the CAI recievers are not high quality, but lets be factual.

Bummer, guy. CAI makes the receivers (or has them made for them by ???) and then assembles the guns using surplus parts from wherever. Parts could be US, Danish or Italian.

The receivers are very often so far out of mil-spec that they can be dangerous and there is virtually no decent Garandsmith who will work on them. Below is a link from Fulton Armory regarding what they found out about CAI guns:

If the one you are asking about is yours...good luck.   :(
