Just for the heck of it what caliber do you think Winchester will choose next for both the WSM and the WSSM lines? Do you think a .260 or a .280 WSSM could be around the corner? How about a .365 WSM(.366 or 9.3mm) for the bigger bore enthusiast? What could you dream up for Winchesters next offering? :eek: Lawdog

This would be my pick:

1. A WSM version of the 45-70

2. A WSSM version of the .22 Hornet.

3. A WSM version of the 7mm and 8mm Mauser.

4. A WSM version of the .300 and .303 Savage.

The 45-70 version I would like to see made with pointed bullets so they could be used in bolt action rifles.

I have done some thinking on this while talking to others and it wouldnt surprise me to see a .30 WSSM rear its head. Just think a moment before getting out the tar & feathers. :idea: Data equal to the .30-06 with a bit less recoil on a rifle with an action a 1/2 shorter than short action. Might make one heck of a mountain rifle. Lawdog

I don't think they'll go any larger than the 325 WSM. I know work was done with a 338 WSM, but they couldn't get near 338 WM velocity. I think they've done all the creating they are going to do with the WSM case, unless they offer a 25, but don't think they will.

But, could a 35wsm equal or better a 35 whelen. I cant see them going any smaller than 270 with the wsm case though because the expansion ratio is getting pretty low already.

Actually if you consider case capacity a .35WSM should be very near, data wise, to the .358 Norma(a cartridge I have always had an interest in - my brother in-law shoots one). Lawdog

not sure why I say this but I think winchester is done going any bigger than the 325 wsm
