no this isn't a cat exploding thread. i want your opinions. i was out cleaning my garage today and saw a cat eating out of my cat's bowl . so i go inside et my 1911 and come back out to see one of our young cat being wooped on by this other cat . well cat take off and i don't get a shot. but cat runs off to the neighbors house. now i am very big on killing cats but i don't really want to kill some one's pet. and to make me even more softer while cleaning the garage today i looked in my cats bed and found him dead. he was 8 years old, 17 lbs and the next best thing to a dog . we even went hunting together for squirrels and even coyote once. bummer. any how we not the best friend with this neighbor (one of his dogs bit me and i broke its jaw) so talking to him is out of the question . so what do you guys think should i brake out the 204 ????
curiosity killed the cat , but i was lead suspect for a while

I'd hold off until you can prove it was the neighbor's dog or whatever..

Vaporizing it later with a .204, .308, 50-140, etc is up to you..

God knows I'm splattered a few of the roaming animals around my house, but never til I could prove it was the one that was causing problems or caught it in the act.

This may sound pretty grizzled but to ensure I got the correct dog that was raiding my trash I used a very large coon trap tied to the carport next to my garbage cans. But let me tell you there was nothing descrete about the results.

Fred, that's the point, no one wants to kill someone's pet, but there are a heck of a lot of feral cats around and I'm first up for getting rid of them safely.....but ya never know who's cat is loose, a lot of pet owners shouldn't own pets the way they let them run loose. Too bad they don't have leash laws for cats!!! Maybe they do, but they sure aren't enforced around here.

We had a serious problem in these parts with people letting their dogs go loose.  Other than it being my right, my only other reason to CCW in this area is because of dogs-wild and pet.

You dont know how many times I've had to fend off one or more at a time while working(measuring pole lines in lawful Right-of-Ways).   A few have been beaten with my measuring wheel, some with my steel toed boots and a couple with a 4lb mini-sledge that I use for pounding in stakes.  .....and there is a "leash law", either on the state, county or borough/township level.

If I see a collar, I try my best NOT to make mush of its brains, but I wont let any animal jeopardize my, my family, or my pet's safety.  I dont care if I'm in public RoW, state forest, or on private property.  The animal, nor its owner has a lawful right to to attack another person in this state.  ....even if they are illegally trespassing.  Now if I was entering there house or place of abode unlawfully, thats another story.

I would say to call whatever animal control department in your area...have them look at your cat and let them determine the best course of action...that way you stay within the law and cannot be sued or prosecuted if your neighbor files charges of animal cruelty against you...

Locking it for now. Will delete tomorrow.

Guys you need to learn the three S's.

Shoot Shovel and SHUTUP. The last is perhaps the most important of the three S's.
