Longevity of the 35 Rem.

This question may have been brought up before.

  I am looking into a marlin 336, and am interested in the 35 Rem. I will be storing the gun for a few years while I do my last tour overseas. My concern is that I don't want to get a caliber that may not be around for long. It seems only a couple of guns use it, and only couple ammo makers make it. Will it be a worthwhile buy or should I just get the 30-30. :D

The .35 Remington is almost a hundred years old......It's a fine cartridge who has already passed the test of time......I've been looking at them myself......I don't think  you have to worry about this one going away!

Get the 35 Rem. It is a great deer cartridge several companies make ammo for it and with handloads it really shines. It aint going away!

even IF Marlin stopped producing the 35 rem ammo will be available for your lifetime. Heck you can still walk into most gunshops and buy 30WCF off the shelf

Thats good to here. Its not that I dislike the 30-30 because its surely proven itself, but I was looking for something out of the norm. Just want to make sure it will be around for some time. With three kids the time to get into reloading is not an option any time soon however I will learn in time.

OK! I took the plunge and got the 35 Rem. I hope it will do me right. I f I get the chanc to get to a gun show before I ship out Ill look for some brass to store for future reloading and I will keep what I shoot over the summer. Man do those bullets look mean. Almost as much lead as 12Ga pumpkin balls. Now I will need a peep sight.

Congrats - did you get a new one or used?

Williams and other companies sell the reciever aperture sights. Mine has an old Williams that I couldn't be happier with.

You are gonna like that rifle!

I got it new. It ran me $380. I will leave country in late Aug so I should get some time to shoot it. I came across this site for peeps called Brochman's. They are expensive but look like what Im looking for. Do any of you have one of these on yours? Any opinions?
