Author Topic: Should I get 22" reg. or 24" heavy barrel in 223 (Read 516 times)

I am wondering what people have noticed as far as accuracy difference in the 223 round between the standard weight 22" barrel and the 24" heavy barrel Handi-Rifles.

Any help from owners of such would be highly appreciated.

Havn't shot a 22" reg but my 24" heavy shoots great.

If I had a choice, I'd go for the 24" bull barrel, mine shoots less that 1/2" groups at 100yds as when I don't screw em up!!

my 22" heavy (Handi) will shoot the 55 and 60 gr' Hornady spire points, and other bullets, very well; but the 22" light-weight doesn't handle the various weights as decently. the lighter barrel likes the 50 gr' spire points much better.

remember, those are only two rifles, however.

how much does the Ultra Varmint rifle with bull barrel way? I am going to get one very soon in .223 and wondering about how heavy it is.

I put a .223 Ultra varmint barrel on my Handi, and I like it a bunch. I wanted the longer barrel 'cause I think it ups the velocity a bit, and it looks cool too.
