204 arrived !!!!
« on: April 04, 2005, 09:46:11 AM »
got the call today. my 204 was delivered to the gun shop today. i loaded up the dog into the old biscayne and headed out.

it looks nice, nice finish, the forearm wood is exceptionally good to. it also has a smooth release button like my new .22 rim fire sportster. i like it, these guys are getting better and better every time !

and i see that it has an extractor and not the usual spring fed ejector, nice !

Mine was too....until I put the camo laminated stock set on it....The butt stock is now on my 45-70 cuz it's the right height for the Williams peep sight, believe it or not!!! By the time I shoot up all the factory ammo that doesn't shoot well, I'll have all the brass I could ever use!! I've paid as little as $11 to as much as $14 a box for it, local store sells the Hornady 32gr for $13 a box, which is the one it shoots best. I've tried the 40gr Vmax, 32gr Rem Accutip, 34gr Win Super HP and 34gr HSM ammo from Cabelas, none shoot good at all....I have a box of 40gr Vmax bullets that I grabbed in error shopping for 40gr .224 bullets, might have to try Mitchell's handload recipe when all my factory stuff is shot up....

204 Brass is available on Ebay

Thanks, I love the Muellers, also have the 4-16x50IGR, 3-10x44IGR and 2-7x32 Multi-shot, excellent scopes for the money...

for the handi's i almost always use the simmons PRO50 scopes. the muellers look to be a notch up in quality.

i see it has a red dot. how is the parallax with it ? i had a 40mm red dot made by NcStar and i couldn't use it past a few tens of yards.

let's not sugar coat it  :-D  i take it you don't like NcStar !

hey - what's the twist rate of the 204 ?????? it can't stabilize 40 grain bullets ??

this cartridge has to rock and roll, i don't see anyone making a "204 [insert name here] improved. nice straight case walls and sharp shoulders. is it some necked up .17 ?

Here's some info on the .204 Ruger...twist rate is 1 in 12"....

The Eraticator 8.5-25x50IGR has an AO adjustable from 25yds to infinity as far as parallax, I usually fine tune the parallax out when shooting paper, the markings are close but not perfect, haven't seen one yet that was right on the mark, even my Bushnell Elite 4200 needs fine tuning to eliminate all parallax on any given setting.

Great. I like that round, and I will probably have a .204 before the cows come home. My only drawback is that brass isin't readily available, you have to by factory ammo to get the brass last time I checked :?
Ohhhh, I hate when that happens

.204 Brass is readily available on Ebay, has been for a long time, albeit once fired..... Cabelas and Midway have both had it in stock, but it's in such demand, it doesn't last long, it's usually out of stock as it is right now.

Ebay 204 Brass

Midway has it on sale right now, but is backordered.

If you buy loaded Ammo buy it from Midsouth. It's $11.03 box 20.

If buying brass watch yourself. Ebay hasn't been to kind on prices.
I got 200 NEW Winchester for $46.00 to the front door on Ebay.

If you have the time wait on MidwayUSA.

Hornady Brass: $15.29 per 50

Winchester Brass:$12.99 per 100
http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=514677

Midsouth is higher on there brass Hornady. $21.83 per 50

I love my .204 and prefer the 40gr. over the 32.
