hi fellas,
I stumbled across your site while at school researching my new rifle and I must say I am quite impressed. It's good to hear from guys with similar interests. I am new so a little about me before I get to my questions. I am 17 and live in chippewa falls, WI. I go to the high school there and I love to hunt and fish and related activities. I recently bought a 223 handi-rifle and mounted a 6-24x42 Barska scope on it. I have shot 60 rounds through it to shoot it in and found it to spray bullets like crazy probably due to the loads I was using wich brings me to my questions.

1) Anybody have good results with the remmington UMC ammunition and in which grain?
2)If not, what other loads to try?
3)Anybody have a website that shows the O-ring trick with pictures or well detailed instructions?

Thanks a million 8)

Welcome aboard! :D  The Winchester white box varmint pack 45gr JHP is the gold standard for accuracy in factory ammo for the .223 Handirifles, even many handloaders shoot it cuz it's so accurate. You can usually find it at Walmart for about $13 per box of 40 rounds.

The O ring info can be found in the FAQ sticky above at the top of this forum.

I had seen alot on your website about the winchester white box ammo. I will have to go buy some tomorrow. My girlfriend is out of town which gives me plenty of time to shoot. I appreciate the input. I did find the O-ring part an the FAQ and I am going to try it with and without it and I'll give you guys an update.

Thanks again

You might want to try the American Eagle 50 gr. JHP's.  They shoot the best in my .223 standard barrel with the Winchester "White Box" following close behind.

don't you just love them days. i started dating my girlfriend when i was 14 and i love her to pices but i was never happier then when we got out of high school and she got a job so that i could start shooting again. those where the good days (now i have a job too :( )

as for a good factory load for the ultra i've found just like every one else the win white box shoot great  but an other is black hills ammo the one with the 52 grain bullet is the one that i liked the most but their 55 wasn't that bad either. about the UMC , i did use some in the beginning and it would do alright but not as good as the winchesters.

here a link for the O-ring trick (the pic is near the bottom) http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=26264

hope this helps .
