Took my new 223 Ultra to the range today after doing the standard treatment: JB paste the bore, chamber polish, o-ring, etc.  I put about 20 rounds of FMj down range while sighting in and playing around at 100 yards.

It did not particularly like the WWB 45gr Varmint packs.  It shot them on average about 1 inch.  Maybe I was just getting used to the rifle, but it seemed to throw shots high every so often.  About 3-4 inches high.  Very odd.  None of the other ammo types did this.

Oddly enough, the WWB 55gr FMJ shot almost the same as the 45gr Varmint pack.  But no fliers.

The 3rd and best ammo was Ultramax 52gr HP.  Every 3-shot group was under 1 inch except one (1.05).  The best was 0.4!  The POI was a few inches higher than the WWB ammos, but it sure is accurate!

The trigger is worse after I sent it in to the factory for a trigger job.  It's smoother now, but heavier.  That's the only complaint I have about the rifle, it's hard to shoot with a heavy trigger like that.  It ejected perfectly and shot pretty good overall.  I almost feel silly complaining that it only shoots MOA with cheapie WWB FMJ ($11/100) and WWB HP.  Pretty cool....

I just ordered a reloading setup so now I'll have to find something it likes that I can roll myself.

some pretty tight groupings. I just hope my handi 223 shoots the same. With a rifle like these, who needs a bolt? :)
