I just received five pounds but have not had a chance to shoot it yet. I hope that will happen this next week. It is a cooperative product with American Pioneer Powder so I suspect it is ascorbic acid based powder with a little more graphite or charcoal in it as it is a little more black than APP powder. Granulation is quite large just like APP. I bought fffg and it is still pretty coarse. I weighed it against Black Mag'3 and the weight per volume is lower than Black Mag'3 so I would suspect the power is a little lower also.

Pinnacle from Powderinc was $18.50 per pound if ordering five pounds. With shipping and hazmat it worked out to about $25 a pound.

Keith Lewis, keep us updated on you progress.  :D

I don't think I will try it. Just for the fact I am having good success with the triple7.

As you know by now I do not have good luck with Tripple Seven (although I have only shot the ffg version). I pretty much love the Black Mag'3 but am concerned about availability and cost. The Pinnacle is likely to be more available since Goex already has distributorship set up. From the looks of it it is a close copy of APP powder with probably a little more charcoal or maybe even graphite in it to make it more black. Cost of the Pinnacle seems to be lower than Black Mag'3. One of my chemical contacts warns that if the charcoal content is up the chance of embers after firing are more likely. It may also cause slightly more fouling (hopefully I will get time to shoot this coming week). Black Mag'3, APP and Pinnacle are all ascorbic acid based powders so they have similar characteristics. Past history has shown difficulty in obtaining consistency with these types of powder although the Black Mag'3 people claim to have solved that problem. Most reports are good but a few claim poor accuracy and some report clumping in the powder. I noticed that the Pinnacle has small dessicant packets in the bottle and with the increased charcoal or whatever it has seems to make it less prone to clumping. It is more dirty to handle as it gets black dust on your hands and measuring equipment.
