Blame it on Quick...
« on: April 08, 2005, 04:24:55 PM »
I was vaguely aware that H&R had made 30-06 Ultra Comp barrels in the past, but it never really interested me because I already had a 30-06 bolt. Then came Quick's recent post on his 30-06 Ultra Comp, with photo. Then his range report on how it handled and shot. Then yesterday I walk into one of my favorite gun shops in Billings and there on the rack was a 30-06 Ultra Comp, having just came in as a trade. I was helpless!! Had to pick it up!! Yep, I had to have it!! Thank goodness I always carry some trading material in my truck. The barrel is not roll marked Ultra, like my other Ultras. But the last three digits of the serial number are engraved on the barrel lug. Would this most likely have been an accessory barrel, because of the lack of Ultra stamping? Either way, I am very happy, and blame Quick for this whole deal! Thanks Quick!!

mt3030, I have to give Mac the credit for the knowledge of the UltaComp, he's the one responsible for my having the 30-06 UltraComp, so it's actually Mac's fault!!!

I hade a 30-06 LE Ultra that shot real well. Man did it kick though. I traded that one for something else that I had to have at the time. I wish I still had it.
shot placement is everything.
