Kansas help, please.

I'm visiting my relatives in Kansas, and figured out that Turkey season is next week. So, I want to go Turkey hunting! I have a new turkey barrel that really needs to get in the field. I went to the local WalMart to get supplies and a license. Here's the problem:

Kansas requires a Hunter Education card if you were born after July 1957. I was born before that, so I figure I'm home free. The person selling licenses told me he thought the requirement for non-residents (I'm a non-resident in KS) was that you had to have a hunter ed card regardless of age. Drat! Can this really be true?

I checked the Kansas Parks and Wildlife website and can't find anything that says the rules are different for non-residents.

Does one of you Kansas people know what the 2005 rules really are? I'll try to call someone on Monday, but in the meantime I'd appreciate any info you might have.

Thanks!

How's things working for you, did you get your liciense?  Where you hunting? I'm in south central KS, in the Pratt area.  I think I saw a truck with a couple hunters from Wisconson in the area I have been hunting.  I should of had mine on opening day but I goofed. Second day, we got skunked.

turkeys in KS, both were medium sized. ONe near Hillsboro at Marion Reservoir, the other up in Washington county on the NE state line.

I did get clarification form the state on the Hunter's ed thing, and it worked out OK. I had a good time - it was my first turkey experience.
