Win 70 Featherweight - which caliber?
« on: April 09, 2005, 07:41:23 PM »
Looking at a featherweight in either .300 wsm or .325wsm. Will get with wood stock as it will have to be cut down. Looking for something light in weight as will be hunting in deep woods in the mountains.

Never shot either caliber and don't see much info on the .325, as it's new.

Will use for deer (whitetail/mulie), bear, elk.

Any recommendations/suggestions?

Thanks!

Do you reload? If not, it will probably be easier to find ammo for the .300 WSM. I doubt the .325 WSM will still be around 5-10 years from now. 8mm just never appealed to American hunters.
Did you consider standard calibers like the .30-06 or .270? These are all anyone really needs. I understand "needs vs wants"  , but if you don't reload, and want a .325, you might as well start learning now.

I agree with ramrod, the .300 is  more common and will be alot easier to find ammo for, plus its plenty gun to take down anything you meet up with, good luck on your decesion..keep us posted :D
