Contender Easy Open Conversion
« on: February 13, 2003, 01:07:35 PM »
Last week I sent an old style Contender to TC for the Easy Open Conversion.  Has anyone had this work done recently?  If so, how long did it take to get the gun back, and how was the trigger after the conversion?

Thanks in advance for the comments. Rol

I had the conversion done years ago. It took about two weeks and I noticed no change in the trigger pull. A   lot of change in the opening

I sent an older frame in the week before Christmas, and received it back the second week in January. The conversion cost was $55.00 plus return shipping (I believe it was $7.00 extra). I was told up front that it would take longer than the 2 weeks time stated due to their being closed over the holidays.

The frame returned to me with the newer style hammer and trigger, as well as the pivot pin location changed. The trigger pull had to be adjusted for engagement and overtravel, but then I expected that. Overall I think it was a worth-while investment.

I have had great luck calling them and getting questions answered. When I sent mine in I told them I needed it back ASAP for a match. It has been a few years ago and they were more cooperative. The cost was around the 50-60 range. I remember being terrified of losing it in the mail and insured it for 2000.00. Looking back I think i was a little parnoid. After all I have it longer than my ex wife was around...more faithful too.
