After market rear sight for BC, ladder style

I know this has been the topic of many threads but I cant find all of them and they are scattered in subtopics etc.  Im familiar with Marbles, Smith, and Taylors, any others.

What is everyone's preference - mount to the stock or the barrel

Which brands are better suited for each mounting location

Which brand would require the least amount of smithing - DIY ease

Is any brand noticable less desirable as far as "wimpyness" or other reason.

I just put the Smith sight on my BC and am very happy with it.  You will probably have to change the front globe to 'calibrate' the hash marks on the ladder once you settle on a load.  Mine is reamed out to 45-90 and to get BP loads with 535gr Postells to hit at 300, I have to set the ladder on about 375.
I'm considering sending it back to the smith and bumping it on out to 45-110 or maybe even do a "Quick Special" and go 120.  Recoil is quite mild compared to my 45-70 Handi with lvl 2 smokeless loads.
