Some Advise please

I'm taking a buddy of mine turkey hunting this spring but he want to use his bow.  I've been turkey hunting for years now but have never attempt it with a bow.  I figure my setup will have to be adjusted somewhat any suggestions ?

Nope...a shotgun and a bow have about the same effective range for Turkeys.  The biggest problem with using a bow is when you draw the bow it is easier for the turkey to see.  Makes it a little tougher.  Those birds might be stupid...but they see like an eagle...they also have uncanny hearing.  Don't have to worry about the direction of the wind though...I am pretty sure that the only thing a Tom Turkey can smell is himself....Fwewww....stink-ol-a..

I have shot a number of turkeys with a bow, both spring and fall hunting, when I was younger and had alot more patience. I always tried to set up in big timber, big trees example: big oaks, big trunked trees, where you could make a move on a gobbler and not have him see the last inch of your draw, or anchor point. I am not a big advocate of decoys, but I would definately use one, cause you can focus his attention on the decoy, and not on the shooter.  slik1

Wow spring gobblers with a bow.....now there is a challenge!

I guess any advise would just be the common sense stuff;
try to choose set-up(s) where the bird cannot see you till he gets within shooting range. due to terran or natural cover.
Where I hunt we have a lot of hilly terrain with open pastures in the valleys and wooded ridges.....I like to set-up on ridge tops....the birds tend to roost on the high ground....its also easier to find set-ups like this.

If you guys team up, then you might want to back up about 40yrds or so, keep the shooter and bird in-line......and try to call the bird through the shooter.
