Pellet gun Oil What do you guys use/?
« on: April 12, 2005, 04:06:43 AM »
I have called all over town and it seems like no one has oil in stock for pellet guns. I know you need special oil as petrolium based oil eats the seals so what do you guys use as a substitute if it is not regular pellet gun oil or is that all you use? Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

I use NO SUBSTITUTES. I order RWS lube, there are different kinds for different applications. Keep any of it out of the barrel.
For the small amount of $$$ why not order on line and wait a few days to get the right stuff.
For the outside to protect the finish any good grade of gun oil.

Found out the the RWS chamber oil is silicon based so I would guess any good refined Silicon based oil would work.

I use Beeman MP-5 Metalophilic Oil and Silicone Gun Cloth for most of my maintenance needs.  Remember to use oil sparingly.  Easy to use too much.  Lawdog

Why not go to a place like AirGun Express on the net for your maintenance products?  Go to http://www.airgunexpress.com/beemanmaintenancesupplies.htm and check out the products from Beeman they have to offer.  I buy my maintenance products from them and they ship quickly.  Lawdog

There is no single pellet gun oil.  It depends on what type of pellet gun you're talking about, and in most cases you need multiple lubricants for the same gun.

Spring piston gun tuners use as many as 5 or 6 different lubes on an individual gun.  Don't use any petroleum based lubes in the compression chamber.

For rust protected on exterior steel, I like Rem oil.

Triggers can take almost any gun lubricant or 'action' grease.

For pump-up pneumatics, I suggest Mac-1's "secret sauce."  I has been suggested this may be motorcycle fork oil.  Some say auto tranny fluid works good too.

On pre-charged guns use only silicone diver's grease on the seals.
