:-) Well, you could build yourself a custom T/C carbine with a 16 inch barrel. You could try to find a Marlin 1894S or CCL model and pay through the nose. I'd probably wait a couple months for Marlin to get the 1894FG shipping and get one of those. They should MSRP for under $500 easy. Just be patient and check Davidson's page every now and then to see if the distributors are receiving them. I've already got two pre-ordered.   RKBA!

I keep hearing March on the Marlin 1894FG.  I would wait for it, right behind me of course.

I wonder why Marlin decided to go with their Micro-groove rifling on the new 1894FG? I know many have said the micro-groove rifling is fine for shooting cast bullets but most people don't believe it. Seems like Marlin could lose some sales to these people (including me). On the other hand, my local dealer still has a few of the limited "cowboy .41 mags" left. I can't remember all the specifics but I know the barrel is octagon and 18" (could be 20") with a full length magazine tube, non "pistolgrip" stock. I would love one but I think they're going for $600. If you're interested let me know, i'll give you their #, it would be a great companion to a blued Blackhawk.

That sounds great. Alittle more than I wanted to spend. You know that budget thing. Would love to have a new gun. What do you folks know about the older rifles that were chambered in 41? Anything I should look for or look out for?

That $600 was for the cowboy model.  The FG is only going to run about $400 per my dealer.  His distributer has them listed with the price, they just do not have any in stock yet.

You guys sure make it hard. Had a NIB BH all packaged and ready to go to Gary Reeder to be made into a BLACK WIDOW in .410GNR, then a poster comes up with a real deal on a FA 83 in .41RemMag, now you guys start in on the Marlin 1894FG and "a few left over cowboys".... what to do?
fz4vgq please send me your guy's number or post it here. I want to speak to them about one of those Marlins.
Love those .41s'

8)  I'm new and I know its late, However, I shoot  .44mag. I have a 4.5 S/S SBH a 7.5 BL SBH and have recently added a Marlin 1894 BL. I seem to hit what I aim at and may try for elk in December near Craig CO. All I can say is to have 2 SAA and a Lever Action in the same cal sure makes it nice to reload.  Remember "happiness is a large gut pile"
