Have any of you had any experience with these shotgun inserts? I have a feeling I need a 10 inch 45ACP insert.

Very interesting...never heard of those...I have heard of chamber conversions for the same dia bullet but not for shotguns. 8) I wonder what kind of extraction is utilized...bet its a rod and ya gotta pound out the empties...

Could be. If so, I'd soon cut a notch for a "case removal tool". And then I'd feel compelled to put a set of sights on a shotgun.......Sounds like a good winter project.

I emailed them this morning and am waiting for a answer...I asked if it used the shotguns ejector or came with it's own extractor...also if they made any longer tubes other than the 18" ones...if this would work...looks like I might have a 444 ,375,30-40 Krag to use...wouldn't that be a HOOOOOT...

Mac,
I think this could of heck of a hoot!  But if the shotgun barrel is mounted on a sb1 frame, remember any limitations when handloading. The ideal way would be to have a shotgun barrel fitted to a sb2 frame, then go for it. At this time, I'm most interested in the 45ACP insert, so any frame would do. Please pass on any data you get from them.

Will do Walley...I still haven't heard from them...perhaps a call in order...and that was what I was thinking too...getting a 26" or 28" 12ga barrel fitted...and permently afixing the insert into the chamber...might be a cheap way of getting the calibers we want...if they are worth their cost...

Mac

edited......I just gave them a call...got their voice mail...so I'm still waiting to here back from someone up there...

I just took a look at that site. I might just have to look into this as well. A 32 H&R in an H&R 12 or 16ga sounds cool.

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

If these are the ones I have seen, they do not have a separate ejector.  Rather the entire insert gets ejected with the host barrel's ejector.  You the operator than hope the spent case falls out after tapping upsidedown or use a short rod to push it out.  Very cool use for different calibers, however much more work to remove the case after firing.  That is why they may be better suited for a double barrel gun. This is also why they are only marketed for break-open guns.  Do not use these if you think you need multiple fast shots.  Also because of this reloading 'technique', you cannot permanently fix them to the host barrel.
The short insert lengths aid in easily removing after the shot.  You can get a longer insert but removing a full length insert every shot can get cumbersome.  Kudo's to them, however for the nice selection of calibers.  BuzzKill

BuzzKill:

I don't think these are like that...it says to use a broken shell extractor to remove it...and "not" to use the pemenent lock-tite if you want to remove it...I think the ones you talking about are like the Little Skeeters...and pop out after each use...at least that's what the site says...
