Original sight set back. Had to drill and tap one hole. "Aperture holder" ordered from Williams. About $4. Hope picture below works. Jim

That is cool man!! I just bought a Sidekick, and was wondering about a Peep sigth for it, there is my answer. Can you see thru the sights without the hammer being back? I can`t use my sight with the hammer not pulled back on mine with the factory sights. Thanks-Jack.

A question please, Why would want to or need to see through your sights without the hammer being cocked? I have seen one other time that someone mentioned that and have not been able to think of a time it would have to be done...Thanks....<><.... :?

I like it for practicing without firing, or on the range practicing, it feels a little uncomfortable pulling the hammer back without firing it, maybe it`s just a fobia, but I always think safety first, the golden rule ofcourse

Serveral questions...

Does it work with the original red fiber front sight?

If so, what size apeture hole works with the factory red fiber front?

And was the apeture holder a standard height, or low profile?

Last, have you shot at 100 yards to see if this set-up works with full tilt loads?

Perklo:

It did work with the standard front sight that came with the rifle. I use 80 grs. 777and 300gr. Speer 45 bullet in a Nosler Sabot. It shoots 2 in high at 50 yards but I am at the "top" of the rear sight ramp. If you plan on using a hotter load than this, you may need to order a lower front ramp/bead.

I don't know the aperture size, got a bunch of them laying around. They don't cost much and Williams can advise you.

Haven't shot at a 100 yards. My right eye is too bad to see a bull less than 8 inches to get a good 6 o'clock hold on. I think I'll get some of the younger guys that I know can shoot to do it shortly.

english, squared me away with the williams peep sight, get the one for h&r and you don't have to drill any holes. just mounts to the scope mount. you can then use scope base screws to cover rear sight holes. it cost about 30 bucks for base and everything.

I did the same thing, went to Cabelas and bought a williams peep and screwed it in the same place as pictured. Only one hole aligned but it has held fine that way shooting 110 grain pyro. I had to use the orig sight that came with it in the same spot for some reason to get her on target at 100 yards. I did put lock tight on the one screw, but it has never shifted or been an issue. I love the peep as I am used to using a peep on my bow. Also, we can only use 1X scoped or dots here in Utah so cannot see using a scope over the peep. My only complaint is that the stock front sight is too wide at the base and tends to block out some of the picture when looking at deer sized target at 100 yards. After this season, I will fabricate a front sight that has a very slender base and a smaller dot kind of like a heavy duty straight pin. I will prob put a hood on it to protect it, but will make it a large hood- the diameter of my pointer finger or so. I would buy the front if anyone knows who sells them or where to buy them.
