Some weekend shooting

Here are a few pictures from some shooting last night and today.

The first picture is a lucky shot of a 30” swivel gun lighting off a blank load. It was taken with a Nikon 5400 shooting 3 frames a second:



Here are a couple of frames from movie clips of the same gun:





Here are some movie  frames of a little 1” field cannon. The first image shows the charge at the moment of ignition with flame coming out of the vent hole but not yet out of the muzzle:



The main flame event, cannon under recoil:



Here the barrel swings down under recoil and contacts the front of the carriage:



Continuing under recoil. The barrel has snapped back up:



HereÂ’s a nighttime video clip of my little Yorktown mortar:



And finally some goofing off, lighting off some loose powder in the bottom of an old car piston that I drilled a vent hole into and buried into the ground:
