Scope on The Encore 20 ga Rifled Barrel?
« on: April 17, 2005, 01:59:37 PM »
Guys:

Silly question but I've never seen the Encore with or without a 20 ga rifled barrel.  Can a scope be mounted on thie barrel/frame set-up?  Thanks loads. :-)

Sorry but I don't understand your question.  "Silly question but I've never seen the Encore with or without a 20 ga rifled barrel"??  If you've never seen one with or without, you've never seen one!  You can scope nearly anything if you want to bad enoungh.

Posted this afternoon on the TC Encore and Contender rifle list:

The 20 gauge barrel can be scoped like any other Encore barrel. I've got a Nikon 3 X 9 on mine. The barrel shoots two inch groups at 100 yards using Winchester Supreme Partition or Remington Buckhammer slugs. Make sure you locktite the base and ring screws. My barrel came shiny blued, so I used flat paint to cut the glare. The 20 with modern slug loads kills deer just as well as the 12 from my experience. I've killed over 50 deer with 12 gauge loads over the years, and six so far with my new Encore 20. The results were the same, including the observed tissue destruction when field dressing. There is a huge difference in felt recoil. I did put a Sims limbsaver pad on my Encore which helps alot. The high velocity 12 slugs can have wicked recoil. The 20 is much more fun to shoot.

So apparently scopes can be used on this combo.

Gunnut69:

Wow!  No wonder your a moderator.  You are correct.  Other than illustrations in a catalog or the illustrations on the internet catalog, I have not seen an Encore or for that matter a Contender either.  I'm sorry, I thought I said that.

I'm fully aware that one can do about anything if they really want too; I meant as the package comes, you know, readily, with relative ease.  Do you understand this reply?

Kieth L:  Thanks you.  After I had submitted this question I had read a couple of post that would suggest or indicated that you could scope the 20 ga barrel.  Thanks for the reply. :-)

Good shooting!

Sorry if I offended but the first line in your initial post didn't make sense.  The question at the end was I thought clear and I thought I'd answered it clearly.  The combo is scopeable..  as reinterated by Keith L.  Good luck..
