I have never needed anything bigger than my 7mm magnum.

I wouldn't take my 7mm bear hunting. I would want a good fast kill. Thats why I used my 300 for bear.

I always figured a brown bear or moose hunt would be a good excuse to get anotehr rifle - one in .338 or .375, with a "magnum" of some sort on the end.  Still do, although my .45-70 would fill the bill.

As a long time 7mmm Mag shooter I have to say that with the best bullets (North Fork, Trophy Bonded, A-Frame and maybe TSX), I would have no concerns about the 7mm Mag being adequate for either browns or moose.

For that matter, the 7mm Mag was my first bolt centerfire big game rifle and every one since has been redundant.  But I enjoy them all.

You honestly think the bears can tell the difference between a 300 and a big 7? :-\
I am not afraid to make an example out of you

If you take time to ask him you won't get to tell anyone the answer.

Recoil is a funny thing.  I had a 700BDl in 7mag that kicked like a mule.  It was the terrible stock design on those guns though.  I sold it, but later got a ruger 77MKII in 7mag that is a pussy cat.  I know its because the stock fits me better as the ruger weighs slightly less.

Funny how rifles fit people differently.  My dad has the BDL, and I have the Ruger MKII (both 7mm mags), and mine kicks the snot out of me, while I can shoot his BDL with 175 grain hot handloads all day long.

Handwerk, I'm confused.  Are we supposed to be talking you INTO buying another rifle or are we supposed to be talking you OUT OF buying another rifle???    ;)

Handwerk last replied to this thread almost 2 yrs ago, he's probably long forgot about it by now! :D
