Wool hunting coat
« on: April 19, 2005, 05:34:24 AM »
I was just given an old red checked hunting jacket that used to belong to my dad.  It's about 60 years old but thejacket itself is in remarkably good shape.  I don't think it's been cleaned for a long time so I was going to send it to a dry cleaners.  The thing is, it has a game pouch in the back that was lined with a spray on type rubber coating.  Much of the coating has dryed up and broken off.  Some of it is still pretty flexible and still on the lining of the pouch.  What do you think the best way to clean the jacket would be.  I really don't need the pouch to be lined because I wouldn't be using it as a pounch.  Anybody else ever run into this problem?  Thanks for any advice.

If you are not worried about the lining just let it alone.  Dry Clean it and wear it.  My Dad gave me one this last winter too.  Very Scottish looking with the large rounded collars, but no pouch on mine.  Is yours a Pendelton?  They might be out of style, but they sure are warm.
