S&W Model 500 Debuts at Shot Show
« on: February 14, 2003, 09:36:22 AM »
Check out today's Washington Times for the story on the debut of the S&W Model 500 at the 2003 Shot Show. (When's the last time you saw a national newspaper feature a positive story on a hand gun?).

http://www.washtimes.com/national/20030214-8596405.htm

S&W also has it on it's web site (http://www.smith-wesson.com/products/firearms/select_firearm.cfm).  There's the stainless 72 oz.,  8 3/8" barrel model and a 82 oz, 10.5"  hunter model with what appears to be an intergral weaver style base. Both are built on the "X-frame".

The 500 S&W cartridge dwarfts the 454 casull and advertises a ME of 2600 ft/lbs.

And just when you thought the 480 was the biggest DA revolver on the block. S&W is back in a big, big way! :-)

S&W just released a new model claimed to be "The Most Powerful Handgun" ($989).

Here's some hyperlinks for the gun.

Now if S&W would come out with a 2"barreled, aluminum framed, airweight model of the 500, they'ed have something! 8)

Yeah, One hellofa liability suite when it flew out of someone's hands and killed some one or the muzzle blast permanently deafened someone.

Yea, with the way S&W handles law suites your probably right!

Actually it would be fun to have a 500 S&W, or even just shoot one a  few times. I do like the big handguns.

I did look around for info on a gun cases for the 500 S&W but didn't find anything about axle size or tongue weight. :-D
