Newbie Reloading Question
« on: April 21, 2005, 06:24:51 PM »
Hi all,

I was wondering, can the bullet seeting die in a 3-die set be used for both jacketed and lead bullets? Or does one need a seperate die for each style?

thanks,

RickG is right for the most part, but I have had some seaters damage bullets that had a different profile.  I think it was a wad cutter shaped seater used with jacketed xtp in 44 mag (it would impress a slight ring around the ogive).

If you desire a seater that closely matches the bullet profile you can buy just the seater punch and swap it out in your die.  You do not have to purchase a complete seater die unless you just want to keep from changing out the seater rod.

If you own RCBS and you can't find them locally you can order different seater profiles from Huntington.
